Nollywood star Mercy Aigbe has expressed deep gratitude to friends, family, and well-wishers following the burial of her mother, Mrs. Abisola Grace Owodunni.
In an emotional post shared on Instagram, the actress revealed that her family felt “strengthened” by the overwhelming love and support shown to them during the ceremony.
Sharing photos from the event, she wrote:
“Yesterday, we celebrated our mother. Surrounded by her grandchildren and the love of friends and family, we felt strengthened. Thank you all for your prayers, kindness, and support. We appreciate you deeply. Fly high with the angels, Iyenogie.”
Over the weekend, Aigbe held a grand burial party to honor her late mother. The Nollywood industry turned out in large numbers to stand by her during the celebration of life.
Among those present were the fourth wife of the Ooni of Ife, Olori Ashley, former lawmaker Abike Dabiri, and several notable entertainment figures. The star-studded guest list included Iyabo Ojo, Toyin Abraham, Kiekie, Aisha Lawal, Odunlade Adekola, Mide Martins and Afeez Owo, Eniola Ajao, Faithia Williams, Omowunmi Dada, Eniola Badmus, Nkechi Blessing, Femi Adebayo, Saidi Balogun, Foluke Daramola, Sikiratu Sindodo, Bakare Zainab, Omowunmi Ajiboye, Seyi Edun, Kemi Korede, Laide Bakare, Bimbo Thomas, Israel DMW, and many others.
The actress first announced her mother’s passing in September, sharing a candlelight tribute with the caption: “RIP mum.”
She later opened up about the emotional toll of planning the burial, describing the process of visiting cemeteries, choosing vaults, and checking coffins as “mentally and emotionally draining.”
